On October 9, Micron Technology closed down one of their NAND factories. They also plan to layoff 15 % of their workforce. This is in response to the steady drop in price of DRAM and NAND memory prices. This drop in prices seems to be an consequence of oversupply. Even so, they are continuing their productionof NAND memory with Intel. Intel is also closing down one of their factories that make NAND memory. This one produced the old 200mm NAND. They say that they are still manufactoring their newer 300mm NAND mamory sticks.
